What a better way to end the week than with a Trifecta? I brought this scarf home and realized it just happened to have all the same colors are this jacket. Both have insane colors and patterns, but it works because the color palate is identical. The black on black texture pattern of the tee is also crazy, but I treated it like a plain black tee.
This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of waking up at 5:30 am to get myself to the Nordstrom downtown at 7! I got to attend Nordstrom’s Spring Beauty Trend Show. The show started at 8, but we got there early to snag good seats and first dibs at the pastries.
The actual show was pretty tedious. There were 3 different themes (Beauty Unveiled Color Crush, and Urban Flirt) and each had 9 speakers come out and hawk their brand’s chosen products, all with the promise of “flawlessness”. The best parts were the mini runway shows at the top of each theme, and the ridiculously adorable Virginie Courtin-Clarins.
The loot was a great free tote (mint and tan “leather”) and some samples. Jill and I both had booked appointments after the show with La Mer and Nars. My mini facial at La Mer was heavenly, and I walked away with some new skincare knowledge (serum is for the epidermis moisturizer is for the dermis) and about $80 worth of product on my face! I thought very seriously about The Concentrate which eliminated all redness and made my skin feel like silk, but I was not prepared to plunk down $300 just yet! Becky from Nars was beyond fun, and she got this drugstore gal to invest in a duo eyeshadow (which I just now discovered they gave me the wrong shade!), eyeliner (in Rue Saint-Honore), and lip pencil (in Lodhi).
Jill and I grabbed some lunch and shopped after all the other girls dropped. All in all, we spent NINE HOURS on the Magnificent Mile!
Here’s what I wore:
- Blazer old H&M
- Shirt Forever 21 (buy)
- Necklace Leslie Danzis via TJ Maxx (similar)
- Jeans Old Navy (buy in Dark Wash)
- Boots Mossimo via Target (buy)
Red Boots: Take Two.
I wore this to school the same day we had our holiday party. This sequin sweatshirt is PERFECT for when I want something special, but not really dressed up. I liked that it had the holiday sparkles, but was still appropriate for a place called Buffalo Wings and Rings.
- Sweatshirt old Forever 21 (similar)
- Denim shirt American Eagle (buy, last worn)
- Pants Jessica Simpson via TJ Maxx (similar)
- Boots Nature Breeze via Barefeet Shoes (buy half size up, last worn)
- Bracelet 1 Ebay (buy), Bracelet 2 old Forever 21 (similar) , Bracelet 3 old Tiffany & Co (similar, similar)
- Nails Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect in Air (buy)
- Lips Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous (buy)
This is a little bit of a kooky outfit. It was one of the mornings where I tried 1000 things on, looked at the clock, and realized I just needed to get out the door. The weather was still warm enough for naked legs, and I’ve been dying to take this ooold skirt out of retirement, but I couldn’t quite figure out what to pair with it. When I bought it 8 years ago, I generally just wore it with a t shirt and a pair of (long gone) corduroy flip flops (you heard me). The jacket helps, but I’m not in love with how this turned out. You can’t win them all.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the “brown” background is, in fact, 50% brown and 50% black thread. So next time, I’ll try working some black into the outfit and see what happens.
