Check out Jill’s even more insane Trifectas here. And how about an homage to some previous looks that just happened to mix prints?

Were you inspired to mix prints this week? Do you do it all the time anyway? Do you think this is terrible and that we are insane? Let me know!

Stay tuned for next week’s theme…

MIXED MESSAGES: DAY 2

BONUS POST! I totally spaced on starting the week off right on Monday, so two posts today.

Here is another simple way to mix prints: use the same print in different colors. I loved Sarah’s leopard sweater, and used my own pieces to come up with an inspired concoction. A long skinny necklace breaks up the print and adds interest.

ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS

Holy smokes, this is my 100th post!

In order to mark the milestone, I’ve decided to make this one long Take One Pass It On post. The Take One Pass It On challenge was started by Sarah’s Real Life and the idea is to take an item you wore yesterday and wear it again in a new outfit. The take a different piece from today’s outfit and rewear that in a new way tomorrow, and so on.

Through this little hobby of blogging, I’ve gotten quite good at digging into the depths of my closet for oldies but goodies, and reusing a lot of pieces in very different ways. Jill and I both decided that we are both too emotional about picking outfits according to our mood to adhere to this. So instead of doing the challenge properly, here it is in  flashback form.

And here we are back at the boots.

I could probably work ALL of my previous outfits in together if I started counting jewelry and had a lot of time on my hands.

Thanks for sticking with me to 100 posts! When I post, I imagine only like 3 people are reading these. But every time I go to a party, someone new tells me they check me out on the regular. So, that ups my readers to like 12 🙂 This blog has helped reinvigorate my love for putting together interesting looks, and I hope I’m inspiring you to do the same.

Coming soon: I finally got a haircut!

Ruffle My Feathers

Here’s a flashback that was hiding on Jill’s computer. You can tell it’s old because I’m missing an important piece of jewelry. My sister gave me this sweater for my birthday several years ago, only to find out that I had already bought the exact same one for myself! I added a pop of red shoe to the otherwise neutral outfit, and then snuck in the tiny red bracelet to help them make sense.

Meeeow

I got to go to another StyleChicago event this past weekend, this time at the Sofitel. No fashion show this time, but there were all kinds of fun beauty treatments, deep discounts on clothes and bags, skinny cocktails, sushi, and other girly snacks. I got a much needed mani and ate a bunch of goodies. Most of the girls got their eyebrows threaded (I’m STILL trying to grow mine out!), and there were also facials, Moroccan oil treatments, massages, and makeup tutorials.  But once all the girls got together, we ended up chatting away and forgetting about everything around us!

And, of course, here’s the loot from the swag bag. Not as many full size items, but a LOT of good minis.

Here is the other bag I won. I got to the event first, so I was awkwardly milling around with my phone in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. I found a very short line to sign up to win a Luna bag. I thought it was just the reusable bag, but I was bored, so I signed both Jill and me up for one. The idea was that you put your name and phone number on a piece of paper, and they would text you towards the end of the night if you won. I noticed my text, and assumed that everyone won the cheap little bag, so I prompted Jill to check for hers. She didn’t get one. So, I headed over to collect my little grocery bag, and the girls clapped and said Congratulations! Huh?? Then they handed me the bag filled with MORE LOOT!

It was mostly just Luna stuff, but it was such a surprise!

AND, because we bought tickets for the next fashion show, Jill and I also got to take home 2 more full sized products each.

A League Of Their Own

I forgot to lay out an outfit the night before, so in a tired panic, this is what I came up with. This blouse is new. They had it with hot pink sheer, but the grey sleeves were a weird lighter grey that I did not care for. I originally had planned on wearing a different pair of black pants, but found that they looked laughably huge especially with the loose blouse. So I dug out these old H&M pants that had been banned to the “skinny” pile along with an identical grey pair, and they fit!!! In fact, by the end of the day, they were quite loose. I have no explanation as to why these now fit, but I’ll take it!

Modern Chivalry

Day Three of Pajamas on the Down Low.

I got a bazillion compliments on this sweater, but Jill gets ALL the credit. She saw it on another blogger, ordered two sizes and offered the other to me. Umm, YES PLEASE. It looks like chain mail armor, but it’s a cotton sweater coated in silver paint.

I had forgotten about these shoes, until a few days ago when a student randomly said,”I like your sparkly* shoes that look like Vans.” I was very confused, explaining I had a LOT of sparkly shoes, but then realized he meant these herringbone sneakers. Why DON’T I wear these more often???

So, I’m wearing sneakers, a loose sweater with a light cotton top, and glorified leggings with pockets (Don’t judge me, I washed them!). Throw in some serious jewelry, and I call this successful undercover jammies.

IMG_9363 IMG_9371

*I would not consider these sparkly – hence my confusion – but the herringbone has a slight metallic shine to it. You can sort of see little reflection dots if you zoom in.
